I interpret the word ‘yogi’ in a loose format, it being an approach to life rather than a specific form of movement or exercise or even religion. That being said, I do a lot of yoga.
About a year and a half ago I attended a class with a lovely and very athletic young lady who asked me if I had ever done yoga before. And I responded without thinking ‘I am a vintage yogi!!’ It made me giggle. Vintage Yogi. Hah hah! Well... the class BTW did not turn out to be suitable for vintage yogis but she was patient with me as I made my way in and out of an intense athletic yoga flow.
As our bodies get older it is more challenging to keep them in good shape. There are just more aches, pains and sensitivities. I have also noticed that, being a movement and yoga enthusiast that I have attended many classes that were not suitable. With lots of experience I can take care of myself if the classes are challenging and there is risk of injury. But given a choice I would rather that I did not have to work so hard to keep my self-care regime in place.
On our home page is a link to a list of classes and workshops and body practitioners that I have either attended and thumbed up or someone near and dear who understands what this website is for, has recommended.
Your feedback is appreciated! If you take one of the classes, recommended courses or workshops, write something eloquent and I will post it with or without your name as you choose. If you know about a class or workshop in any form of movement that you think is suitable for the 50+ group, please let me know and I will check it out. Online, a class can be listed from anywhere in the world but for live programs, we are in the Greater Toronto Area and are focusing our efforts on this region.
